After rain clears, beautiful fall weather in store

Rain could be heavy at times as "potential tropical cyclone 8" pushes west into the Blue Ridge mountains late Monday and through Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service.

Isolated flash flooding is possible along with strong wind gusts through early Tuesday morning.

Chance of rain was 80 percent Tuesday with 1-2 inches possible during the day and a half inch Tuesday night. Chance of showers drops to 50 percent Wednesday with a high of 72 and 30 percent Thursday with a high near 75.
After the clearoff comes nice weather. Friday and Saturday are expected to be sunny with highs in the mid 70s while the forecast for Sunday — the first day of fall — calls for a high near 71 under sunny skies again.
