Foundation postpones Women Helping Women fundraiser

Pardee Hospital Foundation has postponed its annual Women Helping Women Luncheon, originally scheduled for Oct. 18, due to the ongoing impacts of Tropical Storm Helene. The decision came after careful consideration and reflects the foundation’s commitment to supporting Pardee Health employees and community members directly affected by the storm.

“Many of our colleagues are facing significant personal challenges, and we want to ensure that they have the resources and assistance they need to continue providing the exceptional care our community relies on,” said Amy Treece, executive director of Pardee Hospital Foundation. ”Our priority right now is providing immediate support to our teammates impacted by the storm.”

Tropical Storm Helene has introduced new challenges for many in the community, compounding barriers to critical health screenings and care. As a result, the Foundation has shifted its focus to ensuring that those affected receive the support they need, particularly the hospital’s employees who continue to work on the front lines of healthcare, Treece said.

At least 40 employees of Pardee Hospital lost their homes, and other storm-related losses impacted many other employees.

“By postponing the luncheon, we are reaffirming our commitment to the values of compassion and care that define both the Women Helping Women program and UNC Health Pardee as a whole,” Treece added. “We know how vital this event is to the Women Helping Women program, and we look forward to rescheduling it when the time is right to continue our mission of supporting women in our community.”

Despite the postponement, the Women Helping Women program remains critically important. The need for support has only grown after the storm, exacerbating existing healthcare challenges. Pardee Hospital Foundation encourages the community to continue contributing to this vital initiative.

“We deeply appreciate the understanding and generosity of our donors and supporters during this time,” Treece said. “Ongoing commitment is invaluable in helping us uplift women needing essential health services.”

The Foundation will announce a new Women Helping Women Luncheon date in the coming weeks. In the meantime, those wishing to support the program can donate by visiting the Foundation’s website at pardeehospitalfoundation.org/donate
