City grants free parking through Oct. 31

In response to Hurricane Helene, everyone gets free parking downtown through October, the city announced on Facebook.
Safety-related violations will still be enforced, and citations will be issued for all the usual infractions.
Parkers may still get a ticket for:
  • Double parking
  • Blocking fire hydrants
  • Parking in the opposite direction of traffic flow
  • Parking in crosswalks, loading zones or fire lanes
  • Handicapped parking infractions
"We know these things are common sense, but unfortunately we have to say it anyway," the post said. "We encourage everyone to support our downtown businesses as they recover!"
The city also announced that the popular Rhythm & Brews returns to Main Street next Thursday, Oct. 17, and that Treat Street Carnival will take place on Halloween Thursday, Oct. 31.
