21,144 have voted; wait time averages 8-10 minutes

Aa of Wednesday, 21,144 voters had cast ballots at the Henderson County Board of Elections in six days of early voting, the board announced.

That is an average of 346 voters per hour, with an average wait time of 8-10 minutes per voter.

"We would like to thank our staff our poll workers and our voters for their commitment and cooperation," the elections office said in a news release. "We will strive to provide the very best voting experience we can provide as we continue to see an unprecedented numbers of voters at our office."

Two Facebook commenters praised the efficiency of the operation.

"We voted yesterday and it did look like a long line," one said. "But was very quick and the parking attendants and poll workers great! Was no more than 15 minutes from when we turned onto Brooklyn til we have finished."

Another voter said: "I was almost deterred by the amount of traffic! But don’t worry. The line is constantly moving and they are so organized that I was in and out in no time. Congratulations to these volunteers!"
