Pickin' for Pisgah concert benefits Helena relief

FIND Outdoors is presenting "Pickin' for Pisgah" featuring the Pisgah Pickers, at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, at the Cradle of Forestry. Proceeds go to the FIND Outdoors Hurricane Helene Relief Fund.

The Pisgah Pickers, featuring Woody Platt, Mike Guggino and Mike Ashworth of the Steep Canyon Rangers, along with Bennett Sullivan, will take the stage to entertain and inspire. The evening will include a special performance featuring “Ruby,” a banjo created by Pisgah Banjos utilizing wood from the spruce tree that served as the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree in 2022.

“We’re thrilled to host this concert in such a beautiful location and with such talented musicians to support a great cause,” said Carolyn Ashworth, CEO of FIND Outdoors. “By attending "Pickin' for Pisgah," you will not only enjoy a fantastic night of live music but also contribute to essential restoration efforts for Pisgah National Forest, which is a vital asset to our community.”

The Cradle is located four miles south of Blue Ridge Parkway Milepost 412 on Highway 276 in the Pisgah National Forest and six miles north of Looking Glass Falls. The Cradle of Forestry is the birthplace of modern forestry in America. Dr. Carl Alwin Schenck, forester for George Vanderbilt’s Biltmore Estate from 1895 to 1909, founded America’s first forestry school in 1898 and used the present Cradle of Forestry area as its summer campus. This land became the nucleus of today’s Pisgah National Forest, established in 1916.
