Kevan Hansel, a board-certified family medicine physician, has been named chief of staff at UNC Health Parde, the hospital announced.
As chief of staff, Hansel will provide leadership, guidance and a voice for medical staff and create a dynamic physician environment committed to high-quality, patient-focused care and safety, Pardee said in a news release. Hansel’s two-year term as chief of staff will begin on Jan. 1.
“Having worked in this community for the last two decades, I have come to appreciate the relationships that develop among members of the medical staff and the complex nature of their interactions with each other and hospital administration,” Hansel said. “I hope to foster good communication and act as a resource for my colleagues as we continue to deliver high-quality care for the community.”
“Dr. Hansel has been an integral part of the medical staff at UNC Health Pardee for more than 20 years,” Chief Medical Officer Greg McCarty said. “As a dedicated and compassionate primary care provider, he has delivered exceptional care to our community throughout this time.”
For the past four years, Dr. Hansel has been involved in medical staff leadership, serving first as vice chief of staff and then as chair of the Medical Executive Committee.
“I look forward to collaborating with him as he steps into the chief of staff role, confident that he will bring the leadership, compassion and wisdom he is well-known for to this position,” McCarty added.
A board-certified family medicine physician who provides preventative and diagnostic care for adults and children over 10, believes in a proactive approach to staying healthy through nutrition and fitness. Hansel earned his medical degree from Marshall University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at Carilion Health Systems in Roanoke, Va.
