Police are asking for the public’s help in locating the person who broke into the Hendersonville Post Office.
The U.S. Postal Service is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who broke into the Hendersonville Post Office at the Blue Ridge Mall early Monday and stole 50 mail packages.
Postal workers called the Hendersonville police at 6:23 a.m. Tuesday after discovering the break-in that investigators believe occurred around 5 a.m. Monday, according to a police report and statement from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service in Charlotte. Post offices across the country were closed on Monday in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service said Wednesday it was offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect or suspects who broke into the post office.
Investigators cautioned that anyone with information about the break-in take no action to apprehend the suspect. Postal Inspectors ask that anyone with information about the break-in or anyone who can identify the person pictured in surveillance photographs of the incident contact them at 1-877-876-2455. Callers should say "Law Enforcement" and reference case no. 4453670-BURG. All information will be kept strictly confidential. Anyone with information about the incident can also call the Hendersonville Police Department at 828-697-3025.
Customers are encouraged to report stolen mail as soon as possible by submitting an online complaint here or calling 877-876-2455.
