Commissioners call special meeting in Bat Cave

The Henderson County commissioners will hold a special called meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, at Bat Cave Baptist Church, 5095 Chimney Rock Road, to assure people in an area hardest hit by Hurricane Helene that they're doing all that they can to help in the recovery, the county announced.

Also that day numerous agencies will host the Upper Hickory Nut Gorge Disaster Resource Fair, also at Bat Cave Baptist Church. In the resource fair, from 1 to 6:30 p.m., Bat Cave and Gerton residents can get help on applications for assistance through FEMA or the SBA, learn more about hazard mitigation grants, apply for Private Property Debris Removal and get information from the Environmental Health and the Permit Office and from non-profits and free legal aid.

The Board of Commissioners meeting and resource fair are for Gerton and Bat Cave residents. Travel to the area is restricted to residents and crews working on recovery efforts.
