MPO seeks input transportation plans, highway safety

The French Broad River MPO is hosting public meetings next week to gather input on two important regional planning initiatives. A drop-in meeting is scheduled from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, April 7, at the Henderson Public Library, 301 N. Washington St.

The initiatives are:

  • Elevate 2050, a federally-required 25-year plan for the region that looks to 2050 and prioritizes transportation improvement projects over that timeframe. The MPO is seeking input on highway, public transportation, rail or bike/ped priorities across the region. Having projects identified in the plan is a key requirement for federal funding. More information is available at https://publicinput.com/fbrmpo2050mtp
  • Safe Streets for WNC, a five-county plan that examines high-crash locations across the region and develops strategies to reduce crashes and fatalities on the region's roads for drivers, motorcyclists, pedestrians and bicyclists. More information on Safe Streets for WNC is available at https://frenchbroadrivermpo.org/safe-streets-for-wnc-regional-safety-action-plan/

Additionally, the Safe Streets for WNC effort has an online survey available here.
