Jerry Henry
Jerry Henry, the Lowe’s store manager who preserved crucial supply lines of critical hardware and equipment in the hours, days and weeks after Hurricane Helene, has been honored as the Lowe’s Store Manager of the Year and will receive an official Resolution of Appreciation from the Henderson County Board of Commissioners tonight.
Henry’s willingness to help supply generators, portable heaters, glo-sticks and other critical supplies was praised by Commissioner Rebecca McCall in Rebecca’s miracles, the Lightning’s story in its special Hurricane Helene edition. McCall, who was chair of the Board of Commissioners when Helene struck the N.C. mountains last Sept. 27, recalled how she made contact with Henry when 99 percent of the county remained without power.
“I was able to get in touch with him, miraculously, and told him what we needed,” she said. “‘Do you have generators?’ ‘No, but I’ve got a truckload coming. They should be here tomorrow.’”
Here’s the full Resolution of Appreciation:
WHEREAS, Jerry Henry, Store Manager of the Lowe’s Store #0031 in Hendersonville, was named 2024 Lowe’s Store Manager of the Year; and
WHEREAS, the award recognizes the store’s performance in sales metrics in 2024, as well as positive feedback and engagement scores from the Lowe’s staff at Lowe’s Store #0031; and
WHEREAS, although community impact was not a factor for the award, Lowe’s and Henderson County commend Jerry and his staff for their contributions to support the Henderson County community in the wake of the disaster from Hurricane Helene; and
WHEREAS, Lowe’s Store #0031, under Jerry’s management, served as a hub for Lowe’s relief efforts in the days immediately following Hurricane Helene; and
WHEREAS, Lowe’s Store #0031 donated essential products such as heaters and generators to storm victims who were displaced from their homes; and
WHEREAS, Jerry and his team also equipped those supporting relief efforts with other essential supplies, including wire, fire extinguishers, glow sticks and more.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Henderson County Board of Commissioners expresses their deep admiration for the commitment to provide excellent customer service to our residents. The wisdom and leadership provided by Jerry Henry, Lowe’s Store #0031 Store Manager, and his staff during the recovery from Hurricane Helene demonstrates the community spirit that makes Henderson County a much-desired place to live.
On behalf of the citizens and staff of Henderson County, we appreciate and commend Jerry Henry and the employees of Lowe’s Store #0031, Hendersonville, North Carolina for their 2024 Lowe’s Store Manager of the Year award and for being a steadfast community partner.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the County of Henderson to be affixed. Adopted this the 7th day of April 2025.
