Henderson County Sheriff's deputies charged a 27-year-old East Flat Rock man with felony child abuse after getting a call that a 3-year-old had been flown to Mission hospital with severe head trauma.
The Sheriff's office received the call on Monday about the injury. After interviews, investigation and consultation with medical professionals, detectives obtained a warrant for the arrest of Joshua Erik Yarbrough of 204 Westall Street, East Flat Rock. The child remains in critical condition at Mission Hospital and the investigation continues. An arrest warrant identified Yarbrough as the toddler's mother and said he was looking after the child when the injuries occurred.
Yarbrough was jailed in the Henderson County Detention Facility under a $200,000.00 secured bond. His first court appearance was scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday in Henderson County District Court.
