Healthy Eating On A Thrifty Budget

Blue Ridge Community Health Services (BRCHS) and the Council on Aging for Henderson County is offering a Free Community Lecture, Healthy Eating On a Thrifty Budget on Thursday, June 28. Registered Dietician, Cyndi Pittman will be leading the lecture to assist people in learning how to eat healthy while still maintaining their budgets."Good nutrition is an important thing, especially as we age. Eating well helps to manage current conditions and helps to prevent health problems in the future. It's a common misconception that eating healthy is expensive when you're on a tight budget," says Pittman. "There are ways to stretch your food dollar and enjoy healthy meals."

The program will offer information on general healthy nutrition, tips on menu planning, food preparation in small quantities, wise shopping tips, satisfying recipes and ways to include more fruits and vegetables. Information on Community resources will be available from Meals on Wheels, The Council on Aging and other community partners.

The session is open to the public and will run from 9 - 10 a.m. in the Meloun Community Education Room on the second floor of the BRCHS medical building at the corner of Howard Gap Road and US 64 East. Call 818-233-2284 to RSVP.
