The Board that governs the Emergency Food and Shelter Program in Henderson County has been awarded $15,000 to assist individuals with economic emergencies.
Last year the federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program awarded the county $15,300. Ninety-nine percent of the money went to individuals for rent and mortgage help with 1 percent for administrative cost. The federal funding is designated to supplement and expand the work of local social service agencies, both nonprofit and governmental, mainly to assist individuals with economic emergencies.
