Henderson County is giving the city of Hendersonville a discounted rate on a lease of space in the county building at 100 N. King St. for the city’s reorganized Development Assistance Department. The move will create “a one-stop shop for permitting and planning,” the city says.
Designed to be more business friendly, the department by co-locating with the county Planning and Inspections departments will provide a single location for 90 percent of all land development permits, provide a better opportunity for city and county planners to communicate about and resolve development issues and make it easier for residents and contractors to get permits and information, City Manager John Connet said in a memo.
The county is leasing the city 1,000 square feet of space in the two-story county building for $10,000 a year for five years, a rate of $10 a square foot. After the Board of Commissioners approved the agreement, the City Council was expected to follow suit in its regular meeting this week.
