HHS musicians rehearse for Sunday's concert.

Hendersonville High School musicians won’t have their hands out when they perform a concert of Walt Disney classics at 3 p.m. Sunday. The concert is free and this time there’s no “ask.”

“It is our opportunity to give back,” Fran Shelton, the veteran director of the band program, said Tuesday. “This community has assisted this band on every trip we’ve ever taken and this is our way to give back to the children and children of all ages.”
The program includes the Concert Band performing “Disney’s Magic Kindgom” (“Mickey Mouse March,” “Yo Ho”, “It’s A Small World”), “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Tarzan,” and “Soaring;” the Jazz Band performing “When You Wish Upon A Star,” “In Summer from Frozen,” and “I Wanna Be Like You” from Jungle Book; and the Symphonic Band performing “Disney March Spectacular” (“Mickey Mouse March,” “It’s A Small World,” “Step in Time,” “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah”), Highlights from “Frozen,” Disney at the Movies (“A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes,” “Never Smile At A Crocodile,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin”); The Lion King (“Circle of Life,” “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King,” “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” “King of the Pride Rock”), Highlights from Mary Poppins (“A Spoon Full of Sugar,” “Chim Chim Cher-ee,” and Medley from “Lilo & Stitch” (“Stitch To The Rescue,” “Hound Dog,” “Stuck on You,” “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” “Burning Love.”)

They came to our concerts. They gave us food to go to Disney World. We felt like this was a way to give back to them.
