Seven schools win green awards

Henderson County schools are getting greener.

Bill Parker, assistant superintendent for administrative services, handed out Energy Star awards to seven schools for using 35 percent less power and generating less greenhouse gas emissions that similar-sized facilities across the U.S.

The winners were Balfour Education Center, East Henderson High School, Flat Rock Middle School, Glenn C. Marlow Elementary School, Hendersonville High School, Rugby Middle School and West Henderson High School.
