State Rep. Chuck McGrady received the Legislator of the Year award from the North Carolina Sustainable Energy Association during the organization’s annual Making Energy Work event in Raleigh on Oct. 6.
McGrady, a clean energy proponent at the state legislature, took home the award among nine of his legislative peers, including three senators and six House members, who were also recognized in the Excellence in Public Policy and Clean Energy Emerging Leader categories.
The annual awards presentation was part of NCSEA’s Making Energy Work Conference at the Raleigh Convention Center, where hundreds of energy stakeholders gathered to discuss the latest information, solutions and technologies impacting North Carolina’s energy future.
Rep. McGrady co-sponsored legislation this year to introduce third-party sales to North Carolina’s monopoly utility-controlled energy market.
“NCSEA is extremely grateful for the leadership our Legislator of the Year award winners have taken, and we look forward to continuing to work together to create jobs, attract investment and develop lasting energy infrastructure for our communities,” Betsy McCorkle, NCSEA’s government affairs director, said in her award ceremony remarks.
