BUSINESS BRIEFS: Cooper honored, Pardee sets job fair on Monday

Celebrating the Varco Pruden 2015 Hall of Fame Award are Trey Ford and Mike Cooper of Cooper Construction and Sandra and Lemuel Oates and Jim Clarke of Burntshirt Winery.

Cooper honored for winery construction

Cooper Construction Company Inc. was recognized as one of 56 winners for the Varco Pruden 2015 Hall of Fame for its construction of the winery facility at Burntshirt Vineyards. The 10,500-square-foot building completed in the fall of 2013 includes a crush pad where grapes are brought after harvest, fermentation tanks and a laboratory to conduct tests on grapes. There is also a storage room, a hermetically sealed space for bottling and a 1,700-square-foot barrel room. The project won in the category of best agriculture-related building. The annual Varco Pruden competition recognizes top projects that display innovation and excellence through the integration of VP building systems, products, architectural appearance, end use and design. Founded in 1967, Cooper Construction Company is a third generation family-owned general contractor that serves the building, utility and HVAC needs of public and private clients in the Carolinas and Tennessee.

 

Pardee Hospital hosts job fair

Pardee Hospital will host a job fair from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at the Jamison conference room at the hospital at 800 N. Justice St.
The job fair will provide information on a wide array of clinical and non-clinical positions available at Pardee Hospital and affiliated practices. Managers will be on site to answer questions and discuss open positions. Computer stations will be available in order to complete online applications for positions. Richards Dental Care welcomes Dr. Frost

Richards Dental Care will introduce its new associate Angela Frost, during an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 101-A Chadwick Square Court. Hot apple cider, coffee and cookies will be served. The public is invited. No reservation is needed.
After observing dental oncology while working as a research data manager in a cancer center, Dr. Frost decided she wanted to become a dentist. She earned her DDS from the University of Texas School of Dentistry.


Imoco announces management hires


Imoco Inc., a Western North Carolina based industrial and mechanical contractor, has announced two new hires.
Kent Jolly has joined the company in food grade process piping. He has traveled coast-to-coast working on projects for companies such as Sierra Nevada, Chobani, Yee-Haw Brewing Company, Coca Cola and Nestle. His skills include leading crews, blueprint reading, fitting pipe and assembling pipe using a variety of assembly methods.
Philip Sechler has joined the company as a project manager. Sechler is an experienced manager with demonstrated expertise in project engineering and managing construction for mechanical facilities, manufacturing plants, telecommunication hubs, large shop buildings, laboratory buildings, bridge components and offshore platforms.
