FLAT ROCK — Historic Flat Rock Inc. has unveiled unique designs from a number of designers during this year's Design Showhouse running through Aug. 5, at Interlude, the home of Allan and Lynn Huffman, on Old Kanuga Road.
Designers who worked on the 2010 showhouse at Saluda Cottages as well as several new professionals have created designs for the fundraising event. Visitors are invited to choose their favorite design team in voting for the People's Choice Award.
From Hendersonville, designers include Bonnie Rash and Christopher McKay of Silver Fox Galleries and Interiors, who transformed with distinctive flair upper guest bedrooms, hall and upper library; the industrious and talented Harry Deaton of Harry Deaton Interiors, with her bold, beautiful colors, claimed the foyer, casual dining/kitchen, laundry room, pantry, family room and the upper terraces; and Linda Spry of Linda Spry Design Interiors, who created an oasis of peace and calm in the master suite.
Bay Chamberlain of Your Space*Their Space, from Flat Rock and New Orleans, designed the library, a room not to be missed. Henessee Haven's Terry Gillespie from Spartanburg, SC, created a fantastic office and butler's pantry. Mary Adams and Paula Benton, the creative team from Cocoon Interiors in Brevard, are showing their unique style in one of the second floor bedrooms. The living room, the most visible area as you enter the house, is a welcoming and colorful oasis, designed by Kitty McCammon and Sita Walker of Blueridge Designs of Rutherfordton.
New additions to the Showhouse team this year are Kathryn Arnett of The Ward Group, of Atlanta, who designed the lower terraces; Keith Johnson of Classic Designs of Charlotte, who chose the formal dining room to showcase his talents, including a painted mural of the Blue Ridge Mountains; and Warren Fluharty of Warren Fluharty Designs of Asheville, who designed the two of the children's bedrooms and a Jack and Jill bath.
Special events include a talk, book signing and reception at Blue Ridge Community College on Tuesday, July 24, featuring the famous interior designer and president of Dorothy Draper Inc., Carleton Varney.
On Aug. 2, everyone who has an interest in floral design can see one of the best known floral designers in the country, Ron Morgan. The event includes lunch and will be held at the Hendersonville Country Club.
