Homeward Bound of WNC, a nonprofit based in Buncombe and Henderson counties, has received a $25,000 grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation to be used to end homelessness in the two counties.
The grant will be used in the Rapid Re-Housing program, a program that is designed to move people who have fallen into homelessness back into permanent housing as rapidly as possible.
“We are grateful to the Wells Fargo Foundation for their partnership with Homeward Bound in ending homelessness," said Jenny Simmons, director of grants management. "This generous grant will support our Rapid Re-Housing program, providing housing and supportive services to the majority of the population we serve for an average of 6 to 8 months, allowing individuals and families to then sustain in housing on their own.”
In 2015, Homeward Bound moved 352 people out of homelessness in Buncombe and Henderson vounties. to find out more visit www.homewardboundwnc.org.
