'Vintage Hitchcock' opens at Playhouse Downtown

Paige Posey, Chris Allison, Scott Treadway, Maria Buchanan and Peter Thomasson star in 'Vintage Hitchcock: A Live Radio Play' at the Flat Rock Playhouse Downtown.

Calling all blondes, saboteurs, spies and everyone else that enjoys a good “whodunit!”

The Flat Rock Playhouse Downtown presents a three-part collaborative thriller from the “master of suspense.”

Vintage Hitchcock, A Live Radio Play, which opened Thursday and runs through Nov. 6, takes the form of a radio show featuring vintage commercials with the magic of live sound effects and tells three different classic Hitchcock dramas: The Lodger, Sabotage, and The 39 Steps. Complete with an unsuspecting serial killer, attempted terrorist attacks and an international spy ring, the show will let your imagination run wild. Written by Joe Landry, originator of It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, Vintage Hitchcock, A Live Radio Play combines three of Hitchcock’s signature stories with the “golden age of entertainment.”

The cast of five performers in true radio broadcast style features Scott Treadway, Peter Thomasson, Paige Posey, Chris Allison and Maria Buchanan. The leading actors create lifelike sound effects and transition into dozens of characters before your eyes without ever leaving the stage.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. For tickets call 828-693-0731 or visit www.flatrockplayhouse.org.
