Flat Rock joins towns passing early Sunday alcohol laws

Add Flat Rock to the list of towns that have passed ordinances allowing early alcohol sales on Sunday.

The Town Council in Flat Rock, as well as councils in Laurel Park and Mills River, voted last week to allow sales of alchohol to start at 10 a.m. on Sundays per a law signed by Gov. Roy Cooper on June 30. The state law allows restaurants and business to bump up the sale of alcoholic beverages by two hours on Sundays.

Hendersonville was the first locally to pass its ordinance, at its council meeting on July 6.

Businesses are now working to accommodate the change, which requires rescheduling employees and hours of service or updating computer software that manages sales so they can take advantage of the new opportunity.
