A manufacturer of knives would invest more than $1.3 million and create 25 jobs in Henderson county at above-average wages for industry under a proposed economic incentive package worth up to $41,000 over five years.
Founded in 1994 in Vero Beach, Fla., Microtech Knives Inc. relocated to Bradford, Pa., after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. It opened a second facility in Mills River in 2004. The Henderson County Board of Commissioners has tentatively approved incentives of $9,321 the first year based on the investment and job creation. The company said it would invest $1.1 million in building improvements and $1.257 million in machinery and equipment in an expansion.
Commissioners set a public hearing on the economic development incentives at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, in the board's meeting room on the second floor of the Historic Courthouse.
