Henderson County GOP endorses 'conservative judges'

The Henderson County Republican Party has announced its "Conservative Judges" endorsements in all six of the contested races for judgeships that will appear on the ballot on Nov. 6.

In the local judicial races in District 29B made up of Henderson, Polk and Transylvania counties, the party has endorsed Emily Cowan and Judge Peter Knight.

Emily Cowan is competing for the open seat being vacated by the retiring Judge David K. Fox.

Also in District Court 29B, Judge Knight is running for his second term.

"In the case of both Emily Cowan and Judge Peter Knight, we have endorsed the candidate in each race that we believe represents the best combination of core conservative judicial temperament as well as the highest competency," party Chairman Mike Scruggs said in a news release.

In the three races for NC Appeals Court this year, the NC Republican Party has endorsed Chris Dillon, Marty McGee and David Robinson. In the one NC Supreme Court race on the ballot this year, the NCGOP has endorsed Justice Paul Newby for re-election.
