'Longest yard sale' set for Greenville Highway

The Blue Ridge Humane Society Thrift Store has organized Hendersonville's own version of the miles-long yard sale, setting up a three-mile bargain hunter's paradise on Greenville Highway from the Village of Flat Rock to Spartanburg Highway Friday and Saturday, Sept. 14-15.

Called Greenville Highway's Longest Sidewalk Sale, the outdoor garage sale is modeled after numerous yard sales that stretch for many miles. Participating businesses on Greenville Highway will offer separate sidewalk sales for the two days.
"The businesses that are participating are excited about this new event," Terri Thompson, the thrift store's director of retail operations, said in a news release. "And it's not just outdoor sidewalk sales, some businesses may have in-store promotions and restaurants may want to join in the fun by creating 'sidewalk sale specials.' I know that local residents and out-of-town shoppers will love the fun, so I'm confident this will become an annual event."
So far businesses that have committed to the event are the Blue Ridge Humane Society Thrift Store, Ace Hardware, Bessie's Cottage, Wrinkled Egg, Feather Your Nest, Forge Mountain, Lil' Lexi's Dreams Boutique, Beginnings Quilt Shop and Finders Keepers.
Thompson invited businesses along that stretch of Greenville Highway that want to participate to contact her at the Thrift Store at 828-692-3503.
The Blue Ridge Humane Society is a 501(c)-3 nonprofit animal welfare organization. The thrift store is the number one source of revenue for the care of the animals in at the Humane Society's shelter in Edneyville.
The Blue Ridge Humane Society Thrift Store hours are 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The store sells furniture, artwork, housewares, books, clothing, shoes, jewelry, antiques, vintage items and collectibles. Donations are accepted during business hours.
