FLAT ROCK — Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy will celebrate summer camps and "preserving our past" at its 12th annual Conservation Celebration on Saturday, Sept. 15, at Camp Pinnacle in Flat Rock. CMLC invites friends to go back to camp for the evening and support CMLC's efforts to conserve summer camps for future generations.Based in Hendersonville, CMLC protects seven unique summer camps among the Blue Ridge Mountains with conservation easements totaling more than 3,500 acres. Camps are at the core of the organization's conservation efforts.
"Summer camps are such a vital part of our local community," says CMLC Executive Director Kieran Roe. "Many residents of western North Carolina are here today because they went to camp as children. We are looking forward to a festive evening of music, food, and recognition of this kind of impact that summer camps have on the lives of children."
This year's Conservation Celebration will feature live music by Motownblue, local cuisine catered by Posana Café of Asheville, and both live and silent auctions. Items in the live auction include a week vacation in Costa Rica. The event will also include the drawing for CMLC's esteemed Mountains of the World Raffle. The winner, chosen from only 150 tickets sold, will get to choose a trip to Patagonia or the Montana Rockies.
Reservations for the Conservation Celebration and tickets for the Mountains of the World Raffle are on sale now. Purchase either online at www.carolinamountain.org or by calling 828-697-5777.
