Henderson County sheriff’s deputies charged two people with multiple drug felonies after investigating a tip that methamphetamine was being distributed from a house at 3290 Asheville Highway.
Henderson County Sheriff’s Office detectives conducted a consensual search of the property on Sept. 21 and seized approximately nine ounces of suspected methamphetamine and $4,000 in U.S. currency. James Harvey Smith, 57, of the same address, was charged with felony trafficking in methamphetamine, felony possession to intent to sell methamphetamine, felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling/place for the sale of drugs and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Smith remains incarcerated in Federal custody.
After Smith’s arrest, detectives developed information that Edie Kaye Buckner, 44, of 115 Arbutus Lane, an associate of Smith’s, was in possession of methamphetamine at Smith’s residence. On Wednesday, Oct. 10, detectives returned to 3290 Asheville Highway. During a consensual search, detectives located and seized approximately eight (8) ounces of suspected methamphetamine. Buckner was arrested and charged with felony trafficking in methamphetamine, felony possession with intent to sell methamphetamine, felony maintaining a vehicle or place for sale of drugs, felony conspire traffic methamphetamine, felony conspire sell methamphetamine, misdemeanor possess drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor possess marijuana paraphernalia.
Buckner remains incarcerated in the Henderson County Detention Center under a $107,000 bond.
