Historic Johnson Farm is holding a thank you drop-in for volunteers, donors, sponsors and friends from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19 at the Farm Interpretive Center at 3346 Haywood Road.
The annual membership drives for Friends of the Farm and Farm Animal Sponsors are currently underway. Membership is open to the public, and new membership donations may be paid at the Drop-In.
Volunteers are needed for work on the grounds and gardens, house tours, and festival planning.
The non-profit farm is celebrating its 25th anniversary. It depends on public support to operate. Funds go to fuel for school field trips, educational programs, animal care, annual farm scholarship, and preservation/restoration of buildings on the National Register of Historic Places farm.
The farm is a heritage education center featuring 10 historic structures dating from 1872, as well as forests, fields, streams, nature trails and animals. The farm was given to Henderson County Public Schools by the late Vernon and Leander Johnson.
Flat Rock Playhouse has donated ticket vouchers, and there will be a free drawing for those attending.
