Flat Rock mayor mediates noise dispute

FLAT ROCK — Mayor Bob Staton, a retired lawyer, put his diplomacy skills to work to mediate a dispute over noise.
Staton reported to the Village Council last week on his efforts to make peace between the musicians at Mama Christina's in the Singleton Center and a neighbor on Memminger Drive.
Memminger Drive resident Bea Fosmire told the council last month that the music on the second floor terrace was disturbing the peace and quiet she always enjoyed on her front porch. Staton said he parked his car at the nearby apartments across Greenville Highway from the Italian restaurant, put down the windows.
He talked with Nello Masci, who owns the restaurant along with his mother and also plays music, about the situation and helped get things resolved. He went back to Fosmire, who said she "was pleased we had done that."
It appears harmony is restored in the village.
