City to mow high grass and weeds

The city of Hendersonville will mow high grass and weeds and charge the property owner through an assessment.Under the city's nuisance abatement ordinance, the City Council can direct city crews to mow overgrown yards and lots and assess the property owners.
City officials say one reason for an increase in yard neglect is the proliferation of foreclosures. The city has trouble reaching a responsible party at banks or other owners of foreclosed properties who can order the grass mowed.
If approved this week by the City Council, city crews will mow the following properties:

• Kenneth T. Horne – 719 W. Allen Street – high grass and weeds
• Donald & Natalia Pridemore – 120 S. Whitted Street – high grass and weeds.
• Wesleyan Methodist Church – 911 Highland Ave. - high grass, weeds,
• Christopher & Ethel Alexander – 1421 Martin Circle – high grass and weeds
• Suntrust Mortgage Inc. – 701 7th Avenue East – high grass and weeds
• Bertha Davis – 405 Harris Street – high grass and weeds
• W. Taft Wirthlin – 330 1st Avenue East & 410 E. Allen Street – high grass and weeds
• Katherine McGuinn & Reid Taylor – 160 White Street – high grass and weeds
• Brenda J. Parsons – Corner of Kanuga & Hebron Road – vacant lot – high grass and weeds
• Bank of America – 1315 E. Bane Street – high grass and weeds
• James Mitchum, Sr. Est. – 906 Holmes Street – high grass and weeds
• Milton Westcott Robbins – N. Oak Street (vacant lot) – high grass and weeds
• Jeffrey S. Mills – 812 N. Whitted Street – high grass and weeds
