Lapsley hosts reception, launches website

Henderson County Board of Commissioners candidate Bill Lapsley held a campaign reception and fundraiser at the Cedars on Thursday, drawing a crowd of more than 80 people, his campaign said in a news release.

The owner of an engineering firm, Lapsley is challenging three-term incumbent Larry Young in the May 6 primary.
The candidate also launched his campaign website, www.votelapsley.com. The website highlights Lapsley's campaign priorities in economic development, infrastructure and public health.
"I have volunteered many hundreds of hours of my time toward this area as a Past Chairman of the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce and the Henderson County Partnership for Economic Development," he says. "I have shared in the successful recruitment of Continental Teves, UPM-Raflatac, FedEx Ground & FedEx Freight, Prince Manufacturing, Elkamet, and more recently Sierra Nevada Brewing Company and Empire Distributors of North Carolina."
A past chairman of the Pardee Hospital Board of Directors, he has also worked with the Department of Social Services and Four Seasons hospice and is currently a member of the UNC Health Care Board of Trustees.
When it comes to roads, water lines, sewer systems and other public construction projects "the knowledge and experience that I will bring to the Board is unmatched," he said.

A graduate of the University of Wyoming with a degree in civil engineering, Lapsley is a licensed professional engineer in North Carolina, South Carolina and other states. He and his wife Joan Vanoli Lapsley have lived in Henderson County for 40 years. They have three grown sons who were raised in Henderson County and graduated from West Henderson High School.
