U13 girls win Carolina Shootout

The Furman United Soccer Club U13 Girls Purple team, made up of girls from Henderson County, went 4-0 with three shutouts on its way to winning the U13G White division of the FC Carolina Carolina Shootout tournament in Concord and Mooresville Nov. 10-11.

The tournament had over 200 teams from throughout North Carolina and the Southeast. All the players on the team are Henderson County residents and attend either Hendersonville, Flat Rock or Rugby middle schools.

Team members are Martha Smith, Eden Hawkins, Cayla Hughes, Maya Gash, Breona Bryant, Grayson Garber, Meghan Quinones, Sarah Hickman, Kerra Pressley, Anna Price, Anna Brewer-Bowman, Stella Vanne and Suzanne Thompson. They are coached by Jerry Smith and Brian Price.
