Tourism agency approves grants

The Henderson County Tourism Development Authority awarded $25,670 in grants on Tuesday.

The organizations had sought a total of $41,020. Grant money has to go to advertising for the organization.
The organization, event, amount requested and amounted granted were:

• Apple Country Engine & Tractor, Antique Engine & Tractor show, $2,500, $1,500.
• Art League of Henderson County, Open Studio Tour, $1,250, $1,250.
• Arts Council of Henderson County, Art on Main, $3,000, $3,000.
• Bullington Gardens, Spring Plant Sale and Johnson Farm Festival, $2,000, $500.
• Carl Sandburg Home, promotion events, $1,035, $1,035.
• Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy, BearwallowBeast 5K Trail Run and Festival.
• Curb Market, Old Timey Day, $1,000, $950.
• Curb Market, Old Timey Christmas, $1,000, $950.
• Fletcher Parks & Recreation, Concerts in the Park, $500, $500.
• Hands On! – A Child's Gallery, Mad Mountain Run, $3,150, $2,000.
• Henderson County Education Foundation, Barbecue Expo, $2,500, $1,500.
• Hendersonville Antique Car Club, Mountain Harvest Cruise & Car Show, $4,000, $500.
• Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra, 2013-14 orchestra season, $1,200, $500.
• Historic Seventh Avenue District, Seventh Avenue Bazaar, $1,500, $1,500.
• Mainstay, Mountain Medley Triathlon, $2,000, $1,000.
• Smart Start of Henderson County, $5,000, $500.
• Team ECCO, Ocean Center & Aquarium promotion, $785, $785.
