Playhouse's ABBA tribute sells out shows at Myrtle Beach

Flat Rock Playhouse's tribute to ABBA thrilled sellout crowds at Brookgreen Gardens.

MURRELLS INLET, S.C. — Flat Rock Playhouse's Music of Abba tribute concert had audiences cheering and dancing during three sold-out performances over the weekend at Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet south of Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The concert was scheduled for an audience of 550 for three shows but demand was so strong Brookgreen added 150 seats each night, for three sellouts of 700 seats each. This was the second year the Playhouse had sent one of its musical tribute shows to Brookgreen. Last year's Beatles tribute also sold out the outdoor venue. The Playhouse has committed to sending its Beach Boys tribute to Brookgreen next summer.
Performing outdoors under a huge tent, singers Erin Mosher, Matt Lutz and Beth Kuhn kept the audience clapping and dancing to such Abba favorites as "Take a Chance on Me," "Mamma Mia," "Fernando," "Waterloo," and "Dancing Queen." Mosher once again had the audience spellbound with her stunning performance of "The Winner Takes It All," Kuhn movingly rendered the poignant "Slipping Through My Fingers," and Mosher and Kuhn rocked the house with their sexy duet on "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)."
Lutz had no light duty himself, expertly carrying the load of the two male singers in the real Abba.

Musicians included lead keyboardist and music director (and Hendersonville High School graduate) Willson Moss, Bill Altman on guitar, Paul Babelay on drums, Grant Cuthbertson and Kyle Decker (also of HHS) on keyboards and synthesizer.
