With two major hotel projects approved and potentially moving toward construction, the Hendersonville City Council is expected to pull the plug on a third project that had been in the planning stages for more than a year.
City administrators have recommended that the city drop an agreement dating back to 2019 with Fletcher-based Blue Star Hospitality LLC to develop a hotel on the Dogwood Parking Lot.
After a memorandum of understanding expired on March 1, 2020, the developer did not submit a written request to extend the agreement for 120 days. In addition, the City Council has approved the proposed Courthouse Inn on North Church Street and and Cedars Lodge & Spa at North Church Street and U.S. 64 West. Because council members have said they "no longer wish to pursue a hotel on the Dogwood Parking Lot, City Manager John Connet recommended that the council formally direct the staff to cease negotiations for the hotel project.
