Mast General joins Cheerwine to create new sweet treat

Mast General Store and Cheerwine announced a tasty collaboration Monday that’s sure to bring about a cheery disposition.

The Cheerwine Candy Bar from Mast Store Provisioners is now available at all Mast Store locations. To celebrate the new twist on this "Uniquely Southern" favorite, all Mast Store locations will be sampling the candy bar on Saturday, June 15. 

Cheerwine proudly stands as a Carolina original, cherished by generations for its signature cherry flavor. Born in Salisbury in 1917, the iconic soda has become a beloved tradition, synonymous with the spirit and taste of the Carolinas. 

“After the success of the Over the MoonPie bar, I wanted to develop another Uniquely Southern bar and wouldn’t you know, one of my favorite sodas’ catch phrases is just that,” Stefano Tringali, the Mast Store’s candy buyer, said in a news release. “In speaking with Cheerwine, a candy bar was something that they always had an interest in but needed a good partner for it to happen.” 

Cheerwine is no stranger to collaboration, having previously partnered with North Carolina-based Krispy Kreme, Food Lion and Cackalacky to release doughnuts, ice cream and barbecue sauces. 

“Cheerwine is a versatile ingredient that adds a unique twist to any recipe because of its distinct cherry flavor,” said Joy Ritchie Harper, vice president of marketing for Cheerwine and fifth-generation founding family member. “Whether it’s marinades, savory dishes or desserts, Cheerwine brings an irresistible depth of flavor to any bite. We’re excited to team up with Mast General Store, our long-standing partner, to introduce this delicious new candy bar to our fans.”

“We think that our guests will immediately notice Cheerwine’s signature red color and tasty flavor profile,” Tringali added. “The fizzing candy is an extra detail to actively bring to mind Cheerwine’s bubbly bubbles. It’s a fun way to enjoy a taste of North Carolina anywhere.”
