Hendersonville is getting a second Dunkin' Donuts.
The new store is under construction at the site of the closed Sonic on Chimney Rock Road.
Contractor John W. Abbott Construction Co. of Asheville obtained a building permit for a $638,000 2,465-square-foot renovation at 2547 Chimney Rock Road to add new partitions, ceiling and floor finishes and install new equipment. Land records show the 1.4-acre site is owned by Sonja D. Waddell and valued on the tax books at $1.2 million. The new store is the second one in the city after the one at 754 Upward Road.
The store will open in mid to late summer and hire about 30 employees at starting pay of $12 an hour, Lindsay Haynie, a company spokeswoman, said in an email to the Lightning.
“We have seen a lot of growth in Hendersonville and want to offer those traveling down I-26 and visitors to the area an opportunity to quickly and easily pick up their favorite cup of coffee,” local franchisee Aziz Zefri said in a statement.
Founded in 1950, Dunkin' Donuts calls itself America's favorite all-day, everyday stop for coffee and baked goods.
