County hosts pesticide collection day next week

Do you have pesticides at your home or farm that you no longer need or use?

If your answer is yes, then you’ll be interested in the Henderson County Pesticide Collection Day Thursday, Aug. 5. The Henderson County Extension Office, in cooperation with the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, will host the collection event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Henderson County Extension Center, 100 Jackson Park Road. The collection day is for pesticides only, not used or unused paint cans.

All pesticide containers will be taken at no cost. The contents of the containers must be known and labeled in order to be eligible for collection. For pressurized pesticide gas cylinders or containers greater than 5 gallons, please contact the Extension office BEFORE the Collection Day for special instructions and information.
