Yet another big housing development is on the drawing board on Hendersonville's east side.
A developer has applied for a rezoning to allow 460 dwellings on 161 acres off Tracy Grove Road.
The city Department of Development Assistance has set a neighhorhood compatibility meeting to provide information and allow residents to ask questions at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, at the City Operations Center Assembly Room, 305 Williams St.
The applicant, John Kinnaird of Brooks Engineering in Asheville, has proposed a multi-family development consisting of 300 apartment units, 90 patio homes and 70 single-family homes, the city said in announcing the public meeting. The property, owned by the heirs of Margaret S. and Royce P. "Bo" Thomas, is valued for tax purposes at $877,900. The land is vacant except for one dwelling.
On top of approved or pending requests for 508 homes or apartments in four other projects in recent weeks, the new proposed development brings the total number of potential dwellings to 968.
