The Joseph McDowell Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution participated in Wreaths Across America on Saturday by laying 3,500 wreaths at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
This year the chapter sponsored 114 wreaths. A nonprofit organization started in 1992 to remember and honor veterans, the annual wreath-laying effort has grown to include more than 3,000 locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad.
