A 3-year-old child was flown to Mission Hospital by air ambulance and was being treated on Christmas Day after suffering an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound, the Henderson County's sheriff's office said.
Deputies along with emergency personnel responded to a 911 call at 2:25 p.m. from a home on Spicer Cove Road in the Edneyville saying that the child had gained access to a firearm and had accidentally been shot.
Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, Edneyville Fire & Rescue, Henderson County EMS and Mission's medical air ambulance responded to the scene. At the time of a news release Saturday afternoon the child was undergoing medical treatment and the current condition was unavailable. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit were conducting the investigation.
