Heavy snow unlikely to reach Henderson County

A winter storm that may dump up to 6 inches of snow in higher elevations along the Tennessee line tonight and early Monday will mostly miss Henderson County, forecasters say.

The National Weather Service predicted accumulations of 4-6 inches north of Asheville and lower totals as the storm moves east. In the Hendersonville area, the forecast called for rain Sunday and overnight, with less than a tenth inch falling, and a dusting of snow early Monday.

Monday night will bring some of the coldest weather of the season, with a high around 21, followed by a high of 42 on Tuesday under sunny skies. The cold snap continues Tuesday night, with a low of 25, and Wednesday night, with a low of 29. Daytime highs through Saturday are not expected to reach the 50s.
