The Housing Assistance Corporation and landowners Sherry and Thomas H. "Tommy" Thompson are seeking to rezone 18.6 acres at 524 E. Prince Road and 780 Sugarloaf Road for a development of 60 apartment units and 20 single-family homes.
City planners will host a neighborhood compatibility meeting on the proposal at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, at the City Operations Center Assembly Room at 305 Williams St. HAC and Thompson, the former Clerk of Superior Court and county commissioner, are requesting a rezoning from R-15, Medium Density Residential, to PRD CZD, Planned Residential Development Conditional Zoning District. The site is made up of a vacant 6.6-acre parcel valued at $86,200 and a 12-acre parcel valued at $296,100 that contains a house built in 1944.
