Going into the stretch drive of the primary campaign, the three 11th Congressional District candidates with the most money have more than a quarter million dollars to spend — and none is named Madison Cawthorn.
In the catbird seat on the Democratic side — and the overall winner in the cash-on-hand sweepstakes through March 31 — is Jasmine Beach-Ferrara, the minister, mom and LGBTQ activist who serves on the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners. Beach-Ferrara had $467,929 remaining of the $1.4 million she had raised, according to Federal Election Commission records. The current state of Cawthorn's campaign treasury does not mean he can't catch up. He has raised the most money by far — $3.54 million — but also has spent a prodigious total of $3.4 million.

As of Saturday, online FEC records showed no reports for Democrats Marco Gutierrez and Bynum M. Lunsford and Republicans Kristie Sluder and Matthew Burril.
