Breakfast biscuits, pizza, subs, milkshakes and more are on the menu at a new convenience store expected to open on Upward Road at Ballenger Road.
Part of a chain that brands itself as “more than a gas station,” the store would be the first in Western North Carolina for Oklahoma-based QuikTrip, which has 37 stores in the Charlotte metro area, 19 in Greenville-Spartanburg and 941 nationwide. Counter-ordered “Snackies” from QuikTrip Kitchens include breakfast scrambles, hot dogs, eight different subs and wraps, pork, brisket and chicken barbecue sandwiches, mac and cheese, croissants, pretzels and soft-serve ice cream.
The Upward Road I-26 interchange also is set to get the city’s second standalone Starbucks. Last month the City Council rezoned a .75-acre parcel to allow a 950-square-foot drive-thru and walk-up window Starbucks next to Bojangles. Unlike the Starbucks off Four Seasons Boulevard, the new one would have no indoor dining.
The 3.8-acre QT site, owned by Ruth and James Erwin (three-quarters of an acre) and commercial real estate broker Jeff Justus, is valued for tax purposes at $978,000.
The Lightning had not heard back from the corporate headquarters of QuikTrip or Starbucks by this week’s print deadline.
