Following a week of learning about the role of volunteers and how individuals and nations choose to donate their time and money, students from Hendersonville High School will roll up their sleeves and volunteer across the county.
Beginning Monday, the school's social studies department will sponsor and facilitate a symposium each day that is designed to immerse students in the world of volunteerism and explain how nonprofits tackle everything from food shortages to healthcare gaps. On Wednesday students will participate in an on-campus volunteer fair where they will have the opportunity to learn about nonprofit agencies and how they can get involved.
On Friday students will fan out across the county to work on service projects at churches, schools, hospitals, assisted living facilities, and county nonprofits.
