Henderson County and Blue Ridge Escarpment are under a high wind advisory and flood watch as the remnants Tropical Storm Nicole bring heavy rainfall and gusty winds starting tonight and into Friday night.
The highest rainfall amounts, 3-4.5 inches, are forecast along the Blue Ridge Escarpment. Other areas could get 1 to 3 inches and flash flooding is possible. The storm will also bring southeasterly winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, the National Weather Service said. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects, break tree limbs and potentially cause power outages, the NWS said.
Bands of heavy rain will develop tonight ahead of the storm's remnants of Nicole followed by periods of heavy rain until the system moves off to the north early Saturday.
