One of the strongest tools for patients battling cancer is the support of their community, rallying beside them to help them through their journey.
For cancer patients at AdventHealth Hendersonville, that community includes the incredible generosity of the Kenmure Fights Cancer program. The AdventHealth Hendersonville Foundation celebrated the arrival of new state-of-the-art cancer exam beds at AdventHealth Cancer Services offices, thanks to the Kenmure Fights Cancer 2022 campaign that raised $64,000.18 for the AdventHealth Foundation.
The tables allow for safe level patient transfer from standard wheelchair heights and will significantly simplify patient transfers. Each exam table costs nearly $7,000. The support from Kenmure Fights Cancer will go a long way to bringing these leading-edge exam beds to our patients.
“The tables have been amazing," AdventHealth Cancer Services Medical Director Doug Thompson said. "They allow patients to easily sit down and then adjust for an exam with more comfort for the patient. Patients with limited strength and mobility are able to be examined much easier. They improve the patient experience, especially for those with disabilities and the elderly. Patients are very happy with them.”
“Since 2008, the people who call Kenmure home have shown their compassion to their neighbors and our community through their commitment to advancing cancer care in Henderson County,” added Trina Stokes, director of AdventHealth Hendersonville Foundation. “Our relationship with the incredible Kenmure Fights Cancer community has truly changed lives of patients coming to AdventHealth for cancer care through advances in technology, therapy resources and educational tools. When we walk onto the floor of our cancer centers, we can see the direct impact of Kenmure Fights Cancer.”
In the past 15 years, Kenmure Fights Cancer has donated more than $846,000 for cancer care in the community, including at AdventHealth Hendersonville. The residents are excited to be on “A March to a Million” in 2023. To learn more visit kenmurefightscancer.org.
