Here's what you need to know about Fourth of July events

The Fourth of July fireworks launch site is moving back to Jackson Park this year, which means the dog park will be closed Monday and the Fourth Avenue entrance closed Tuesday.

The dog park will close Monday at noon and remain closed until Wednesday at noon as the fireworks will be launched from this area, and crews will need time to stage and clean up afterward. On Tuesday morning, the Fourth Avenue entrance to Jackson Park will be closed. The park can be reached via Glover Street only. The park will remain open to the public and ice cream trucks will be available at the playground all day.

Local folks and visitors will celebrate Independence Day with a Fourth of July parade, music on two stages, family fun and the big fireworks show at dark.

Sponsored by the Hendersonville Merchants and Business Association, the Fourth of July parade will roll at 10:30 a.m. Parade entries line up at 9 a.m. on Main Street, south of Caswell Street. No parking will be allowed along the parade route on Main Street after 6 a.m. July 4. Main Street will be closed at 9 a.m., with the avenues remaining open until 15 minutes before the parade begins. While normally downtown is pet friendly, furry friends must be left comfortably at home on the Fourth of July.

The evening celebration starting at 5 p.m. features live music at the Historic Courthouse and Visitors Center, food trucks and a kids zone. The event is organized by Henderson County Parks & Recreation, Henderson County Tourism Development Authority and the Arts Council of Henderson County.

The Visitors Center stage features the Carolina Concert Choir at 6 p.m., Junior Appalachian Musicians at 7 and the Henderson Symphony Orchestra Brass Ensemble at 8.

On July 4th at 6pm we will present the Carolina Concert Choir, 7pm Junior Appalachian Musicians 8pm will be the Henderson Symphony Orchestra Brass Ensemble. A wonderful opportunity for the public to hear these great groups." All concerts are presented at the outdoor stage at the Visitor's Center parking lot located on the corner of Barnwell and Main Streets.

At dark, the fireworks show culminates the celebration. The exhibit can be seen from either concert location — the Welcome Center stage and the Historic Courthouse Square — and surrounding areas. Look for the big red balloon in the sky on the morning of July 4 to find your viewing spot. If you can see the balloon, you’ll be able to see the fireworks.

WTZQ is partnering with the company putting on Henderson County’s fireworks show to air the soundtrack to this year’s spectacular. Just bring a radio to your favorite viewing place or tune your car radio to 95.3 FM to enjoy the fireworks with the patriotic music.

If you're skipping the show in the sky, you may want to check out the Hendersonville Honeycrisps at 7 p.m. at Berkeley Park. Tickets are $10. Made up of baseball players who are on college rosters, the Honeycrisps play in the North State League.

City offices closed

City government offices will be closed in observance of Independence Day on July Fourth. Garbage, recycling and brush collection for city customers will not be taking place on July 4. Collection for Tuesday customers will be delayed by one week with collection resuming on Tuesday, July 11.
