Parade, music and fireworks highlight Fourth of July celebration

Hendersonville is gearing up for a big Independence Day celebration downtown featuring the Fourth of July parade, music on two stages and fireworks at dark.

Fourth of July Parade

Sponsored by the Hendersonville Merchants and Business Association, the parade start at 10:30 a.m. and moves north on Main Street from Caswell Street. Parade entries line up at 9 a.m. south of Caswell. To ensure a smooth event experience, no parking will be allowed along the parade route on Main Street after 6 a.m. Main Street will be closed at 9, with the avenues remaining open until 15 minutes before the parade begins. Paid public parking is available in the city parking deck at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Church Street. The city asks parade-goers to leave pets safely and comfortably at home for the parade, festival and fireworks.

Heritage Museum

The museum will celebrate the Fourth with welcoming remarks by museum board President Carolyn Justus, the Pledge of Allegiance, music by the Clifford Bishop Band and free ice cream and water immediately after the parade. The museum will host games and a scavenger hunt on courthouse lawn. The museum will be open for tours.

Fourth of July Family Fun Celebration Concert and Festivities

The festival from 5 to 9 p.m. features bands performing at both the Historic Courthouse and Visitors Center stage, food trucks and a kid’s fun zone. The event is organized by Henderson County Parks & Recreation, Henderson County Tourism Development Authority and the Arts Council of Henderson County. Fourth of July fireworks

Launching around 9, the fireworks display can be seen from either concert stage — the Visitors Center and the Historic Courthouse Square — and surrounding areas. Look for the big red balloon in the sky on the morning of July 4 to find your viewing spot. If you can see the balloon, you'll be able to see the fireworks. WTZQ radio is partnering with the company putting on Henderson County’s fireworks show to air the soundtrack to this year’s spectacular. Bring a radio to your favorite viewing spot or tune car radios to 95.3 FM and enjoy the fireworks with the music soundtrack. The parking deck roof is prohibited as a viewing spot due to safety regulations. The fireworks launch site will be in Jackson Park and during that time the park will be closed to the public.
